Atlantic Canada is well positioned to be a leader in an emerging bio-economy. Vast forests, underutilized agricultural land, and diversified coastal zones make this area ideal for piloting and scaling globally disruptive technologies. The region boasts a disproportionate share of both private and public research institutions engaged in biosciences. And, there is an abundance of skill and talent available, giving rise to a hot bed of new companies and wide-ranging solutions to support new bioresource industries.
For over five years, BioApplied have been part of the Atlantic Canada bioresource ecosystem. We have supported public and private initiatives and have provided services to an array of clients innovating in renewable resources. Later this month, Atlantic BioCon 2019 comes to Halifax. BioApplied is proud to sponsor the event.
Atlantic BioCon was first held in 2012, and since then has grown to attract a significant number of Bio-Economy professionals from all levels of industry, government and academia. The goal of the conference is to bring together individuals from diverse backgrounds, stimulate discussion, learn, share, and possibly be the spark for a new idea or project.
This year’s conference begins on Monday the 27th, with two Bio-Economy site tours; one to the Annapolis Valley, and the other within the Halifax Regional Municipality. A casual ‘meet and greet’ follows from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at The Bitter End (on Argyle street, Halifax). BioApplied will host our clients, associates, and supporters as an appreciation for being part of our five years of business. All are welcome to the event and to join us in a celebratory toast to the past and the future!
The conference agenda for Tuesday the 28th and Wednesday the 29th includes a variety of engaging speakers, networking sessions, poster session, a trade-show, along with great food and entertainment.
Although there are many opportunities for classic networking, Atlantic BioCon enhances the activity through an online networking platform. This year a ‘B2B meeting scheduler’ is available for registered attendees. Prior to the conference, participants can review the profile of other participants and request to schedule a ‘speed-meeting’. The automated scheduler will facilitate the request, and once confirmed assign a designated meeting space. It is fast, efficient, and ensures you get the most out of the event.
